Some years ago I discovered pilates and quickly became addicted. After years of managing a chronic arthritic condition (Ankylosing Spondalitis) through other forms of exercise, pilates proved to be the perfect antidote, increasing my flexibility and range of motion, improving my tone and body strength, and providing sustained relief from spinal, joint and muscular pain.
Feeling the need to share the benefits of pilates, I qualified as a pilates mat instructor in France in 2013 with BASI International. In 2015, I decided to deepen my knowledge of movement and rehabilitation and qualified as a mat instructor with Polestar Pilates UK, the gold standard in pilates teaching. My movement journey continues to evolve through additional training and learning from other techniques and influences. In 2017, I trained as a Garuda matwork instructor. This exciting new method enables you to move into your body more completely and pushes the boundaries of pilates-related movements and instruction.
I divide my working life between pilates/Garuda and a career as a consultant in global health development (www.nichad.org). Both use evidence-based knowledge to empower individuals and communities to take control of their health and wellbeing.
